Charity Registration No: 1123246

Welcome The Walking with Giants Foundation would like to extend a warm welcome to everybody attending the 1st Annual UK MOPDII Convention. We feel that this is the start of something special and even though many things have been achieved in the last 10 months, there are even more things to understand, set up and achieve. By reaching out and bringing families affected by MOPDII and other forms of proportionate short stature, we feel that that future for individuals and families affected by MOPDII and the associated conditions will be more positive and rewarding.

About Us

The Foundation was formed in January 2008 by the parents of a young 3 year old boy called Alex, who was diagnosed with MOPDII in May 2006. Back in May 2006, John and Sue Connerty, was advised that Alex was thought to be the only MOPDII child in the UK, however they were advised that there where other families in America.

Due to the initial isolation of coming to terms with Alex’s condition, John and Sue set out on a journey of discovery to find out more about the condition and other parents with children affected by MOPDII.

The journey started by befriending families in the USA via the internet. This led to them getting to know an American mother, Elizabeth Hale whose daughter Chloe had the same condition as Alex. Elizabeth, her husband Tom and some of their friends set up a Foundation (Potentials Foundation) in America, to reach out and help other American MOPDII families.
